Kent Help for Ukraine is urgently seeking more donations to help with the Ukraine crisis. Sadly, as the war grows worse, donations are lessening at a time when they are needed the most.
Donations of nappies, warm clothing, toiletries and more (see list below) can be dropped off or sent to Bigjigs Toys’ Folkestone warehouse. Bigjigs Toys has coordinated the logistical effort of Kent Help for Ukraine and has to date dispatched twelve 40ft lorries of aid to eastern Europe. Lorry number 13 is due to leave Folkestone after the Easter weekend.
Over 30 Kent schools have helped with the donations, while in May, an exclusive auction at The Chambers, Folkestone, will be held in order to raise much-needed funds. Colleagues in the toy trade have been very generous in their donations of lorries, consumables and money for fuel, and many Kentish groups have raised funds via all manner of events.
The logistical effort has required volunteers to sort, box and label, then palletise the goods for loading. Best value lorries have been sought with drivers insured to travel into Ukraine and deliver the aid where it has been most needed.
Donations are urgently required of the following:
Readers can make a monetary donation to fund the cost of the lorries driving to Eastern Europe here or join the Kent Help for Ukraine Facebook group here.
Anyone wanting to volunteer can join the dedicated Whatsapp group. If volunteers aren’t local, they can still send their donations to the warehouse but please clearly mark the box as “Ukraine Aid Donation”.
