In honour of World Earth Day (22 April), Zapf Creation has continued to show its commitment to sustainability by creating a series of bespoke plastic-free product mailers for its biggest influencer and press fans.
Leading the way across the nurturing doll market and the wider toy sector by constantly looking at ways to innovate its packaging and PR strategies, the company issued over 50 product mailers to parenting influencers and press titles. The mailers featured some of the brand’s best loved Baby Annabell and BABY born dolls alongside branded plants and sunflower seeds, all to encourage little ones to take care of planet Earth and learn about the importance of making sustainable choices.
The campaign forms part of the Baby Annabell and BABY born manufacturer’s wider objective to remove single-use plastic from all packaging by the end of 2022. Since 2021 the company has eliminated over 40 tonnes of single-use plastic, the equivalent weight of seven African elephants, from every new product that has launched by swapping traditional transparent window boxes, cable ties, sellotape, plastic bags and blister packs for sustainable paper-based alternatives.
To date, consumer response to this shift has been overwhelmingly positive, with parents and children praising the frustration-free recyclable packaging as well as the brand’s wider focus on delivering products that align with both sustainability and longevity.
Kasia Leskow, head of UK marketing at Zapf Creation, explains: “Our commitment to sustainable practices and packaging is at the forefront of everything we do here at Zapf Creation and we’re proud to be doing our bit to contribute to a green future, creating a better world for our children to inherit.
“Over the past few years, we’ve seen an increasing demand from parents and children alike who are searching for more eco-friendly toy options within the market. This makes it essential that we continue to implement packaging materials that are easier to recycle and ensure our dolls stand the test of time so they can be passed down through generations to come.
“Our experience is that consumers are already fully on board. Whenever we post on the topic on our social channels we see great engagement from our online community who recognise the positive steps we’re making and why. A healthy planet means a healthy future and a whole world of possibility for our little ones.”
Zapf’s plastic-free packaging is identifiable by the sunflower logo on the box, and it can be disposed of with waste paper.
