Rainbox Six Siege market allows you to sell skins for hundreds of dollars

The launch of the beta market Rainbow Six Siege marks a new chapter for players of Ubisoft’s famous tactical shooter. Now, users of the title have the opportunity to turn their weapon skins, previously just digital collectibles, into real profit.

This development builds on the success of similar situations in other games, such as Counter-Strike, in which rare skins can reach astronomical values. The developer launched this feature with a select group of beta testers, allowing them to trade cosmetics for R6 credits, the game’s currency.

Skins with very high values

On day one, the marketplace was already displaying thousands of ads, covering a wide range of weapon skins, headgear, outfits, and amulets. Among the most coveted items are the “Glacier” weapon skins, available only during the first season of the game’s first year in 2016.

One of these cosmetics, specifically for the MP5, was recently sold for 20 thousand R6 credits, which is equivalent to approximately US$125 (about R$618.75). Other high-value items include the “Death Sentence Jäger” headgear, sold for 35,000 credits approximately US$200 (about R$990), and a skin for the 416-Carbine from the 2019 Six Invitational, which would have been sold for more than US$600 (around R$3,000) in credits.

Is the market a good addition to Rainbow Six Siege?

The introduction of this new feature brings a significant opportunity for Rainbow Six Siege, many of whom have been following the game since its release in 2015. Ubisoft has maintained constant support for the game, ensuring that it remains relevant and appealing to its fanbase. With the opening of this feature, users can now monetize items that, until then, had only aesthetic or prestige value within the community.

The question that remains is whether this new addition to the title will achieve the same level of success and appreciation as the skins market. Counter-Strike, known for moving millions of dollars. However, not everything is optimistic, there is the possibility that the intensive monetization of cosmetic items could lead to a disparity between players, in which access to exclusive and aesthetically appealing content is restricted to those willing to invest significant sums of money.

This dynamic could potentially affect the experience, creating a divide based not on skill or merit, but on the ability to acquire rare and expensive items, so now we have to wait and find out whether the repercussions of this addition will be positive or not.
