Will Stardew Valley end after update 1.6? Creator talks about the future of the game

In an interview with PolygonEric ‘ConcernedApe’ Barone spoke about the Stardew Valley update 1.6 and whether this would be the game’s last major update – considering the developer is currently working on other projects. The developer said that it has become customary for him to say that the next update will be the last for the farm game, but he will always produce more content.

“I don’t think I’ll ever officially close the chapter. The book is always open,” said the developer. In other words, if you are a fan of Stardew Valley, the tendency is for the game to not stop receiving news, even after the launch of the new update this month.

It’s been eight years since ConcernedApe released Stardew Valley, and we’ve had plenty of updates in the meantime. The developer said he continues to release new features in the farming simulation because it is his “life’s work.”

All this hard work is paying off as Stardew Valley sold 30 million copies and is “thriving more than ever.” While the developer is touring the world alongside the Stardew Valley Concert – where he revealed his childhood dream of becoming a composer – the release date for update 1.6 has been revealed.

Eric ‘ConcernedApe’ Barone left many tips and recommendations about the new 1.6 expansion that is coming to the farming simulator, including recommending a new save file to optimize gameplay and have a totally new experience. In addition, there will be three new festivals, including one dedicated to the New Year, and a new type of farm — which many speculate will be set on the outskirts of a swamp, the only biome that has not yet appeared in the game.

The free update will arrive on March 19th, only for PC. The console and mobile versions “will come as soon as possible”, without a specific date. Take the opportunity to follow Voxel on social media and check out our videos with game lists and news on YouTube and TikTok!
