CEO of Vivo Keyd Stars is fined R$20,000 by Riot

One day after Vivo Keyd Stars lost to paiN Gaming in the CBLOL 2024 playoffs. Hugo Tristan, CEO of the organization and better known as Vex, was fined in R$ 20 mil for the Riot Games.

The reason for the fine was a publication that Hugo made with a print of bets on CBLOL 2024 teams. Although the investigation concluded that the bets in question were not his, any type of post involving bets is prohibited, even if in a joking tone. .

CBLOL rules that Keyd’s CEO violated

Art. 3.1 General obligations

Esports Professionals participating in Riot Esports Competitions must maintain the highest standards of personal integrity and sportsmanship at all times. Esports Professionals are required to behave respectfully in all their interactions with other competitors, coaches, referees, tournament administrators, media, sponsors, fans and others. Esports Professionals are also required to treat Riot Games and third-party properties (including gaming equipment, play areas, work spaces and other facilities) in a professional and responsible manner. Esports Professionals must comply with the decisions and instructions of officials (including referees) of Riot Esports Competitions.

Art. 3.15 Bets.

Esports Professionals may not: (a) place or attempt to place a bet, directly or indirectly, on any competition, game, play or related component in which such Esports Professional participates; (b) engage in any legal or illegal gaming activities involving any video game title owned by Riot Games, or instruct, permit, cause or enable others to do any of the foregoing; or (c) have any interest, directly or indirectly, in any company or entity that promotes, negotiates, organizes or conducts betting, gambling, lotteries or similar events or transactions related to esports competitions. “Gambling activity” is defined as putting anything of value (including real-world currency, cryptocurrency or other digital assets) at risk in connection with a bet. Betting activity can only take place in casinos, other physical retail locations or over the internet.

Art. 4.8 Intention.

Violations of this Code of Conduct are subject to disciplinary action, regardless of whether they were committed intentionally or unintentionally, or as part of a joke, prank or some type of social media performance.

Riot highlighted that an investigation was conducted and that Vex had the right to respond. In addition to the fine, the CEO also received a warning from the developer.
