Hornby has partnered with Severn Valley Railway to produce a representation of the ‘Elizabeth II’ locomotive, in a limited edition of 1,500.
In a move that sparked worldwide excitement among rail enthusiasts in 2022, the Severn Valley Railway commissioned the temporary repainting and renaming of SR West Country Class 34027 ‘Taw Valley’. A head-turning purple livery was chosen to mark the 70th anniversary of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s reign and her Platinum Jubilee year. Renamed by public vote, ‘Elizabeth II’ commemorates the longest reign in history of a British Monarch, and as further recognition of this historic milestone, the locomotive has been renumbered as ‘70’.
The SVR and Hornby are donating a proportion of the profits from the sale of ‘Elizabeth II’ to The Patron’s Fund, which supports the charitable organisations across the UK and the Commonwealth for which Her Majesty acts as a Patron.
The locomotive model is available to pre-order via Hornby.com and Hornby stockists.
